Flashlights…I like 2 in my backpack

IF you are like me, and I hope you are, you like to have the best gear that money can buy when you are going hiking or backpacking. One thing that I have come across in my hiking experience is people with lousy flashlights. You may say “Hey! The flashlight is not as important as your boots or your pack!” and you would be right. But the flashlight is a crucial tool when you are trekking in the dark. What good is a $600 pair of boots if you can’t see your hand in front of your face?

When I go out backpacking I bring two Flashlights. They are both equally as important as the other. The first flashlight is used for when you are out on the trail. This has to be a bright flashlight that will be able to pick out the details of the terrain you are walking on without too much light-area because it is not needed.
The second flashlight I carry is for walking around basecamp, looking through backpacks, cooking dinner, pumping water, and other various tasks. For this you need a flashlight that gives you a wide light-area without too much need for brightness and you definately need a long battery-life.

Both flashlights are equally as important. The short battery-life but bright and the long battery-life go together like cheese and wine.
